My Opinion On Designer Babies

I am a Catholic, so I will not go against my faith on a situation like this one.  Even if I was not a Catholic I would not approve of such things.  I believe, just like the Catholic church, from the moment of conception, there is a baby.  I don't believe people should be taking an embryo out of a woman and full around with it.  These things disgust me, and I am NOT a supporter.

What are some legal issues that can occur?

When a husband and wife decide to go through with IVF, but get a divorce after it has already happened, it is a very tricky situation.  Who will take custody over the child?  There could be three people involved in IVF.  If an embryo is carried in a surrogate mother, she might want the baby.


Also, what if the embryo is implanted in the wrong woman?  The woman may want to keep the baby but she cannot because the embryo belongs to someone else.

What is a Savior Sibling?

A savior sibling is an embryo that is genetically the same as its sibling.  This embryo is deliberately created incase if its sibling becomes ill.
